How much does a private consultation cost?
New appointments (face-to-face or virtual): £250–£350. Follow-up appointments: £200–£275. Surgical fees are discussed individually at consultation. Most major UK health insurers accepted including AXA Health, Bupa, Aviva, Vitality, WPA and Cigna.
Do I need a GP referral to book privately?
No. Self-referrals are welcome. Appointments are typically available within 2–3 days. Call Jo Mitchelson on 020 7952 2882 or email pa@lungsurgeon.co.uk. Virtual consultations are often available within 24 hours.
Which health insurers does Dr Okiror accept?
AXA Health, Bupa, Aviva, Vitality, WPA and Cigna, and most other UK and international insurers. Insurers usually settle the hospital, surgeon and anaesthetist fees in full, less any excess written into your policy. Can I have surgery at London Bridge Hospital on the same day as my biopsy?
In selected cases, yes. London Bridge Hospital was the first centre in Europe to offer ION robotic bronchoscopy outside NHS clinical trials. Where biopsy confirms early-stage cancer and surgery is the appropriate next step, the integrated pathway at London Bridge allows this to be planned and performed promptly — often within days of diagnosis rather than weeks. Do you see international patients?
Yes. International patients are welcome. An initial virtual consultation can be arranged within 24 hours, allowing full review of imaging and reports before any travel to London is needed. London Bridge Hospital and The Lister Hospital both have experience supporting international patients with accommodation, coordination, and logistics.
What does surgery cost, and how quickly can it be arranged?
Guide prices for every operation are published on the fees page, from £3,600 for a diagnostic bronchoscopy to £38,000 for a pneumonectomy, each covering hospital, surgeon and anaesthetist fees. Surgery is usually within a week of completing investigations; patients who already have their tests can be booked within days of their consultation, and urgent cases within 48 hours. Unwell patients attending the Urgent Care Centre at London Bridge Hospital are admitted directly to the ward.
